
A cannabis plantation containing plants valued at more than Rs. 2 million was raided by officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) attached to the Buttala Camp.
The raid was carried out in Thanamalwila based on intelligence provided by officers of the Army Intelligence Unit.
STF officers discovered a large number of cannabis plants of varying heights, which had been extensively cultivated at the site.
Authorities estimate the value of the cannabis to be more than Rs. 2 million. All the cannabis plants found at the plantation were subsequently destroyed by fire.
The suspects reportedly fled the area during the raid.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by officers of the Buttala STF Camp.
