
According to the results of the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, the highest marks in Sinhala medium was obtained by a student from the Kurunegala District with 193 marks.
The Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage revealed this while speaking at a special media briefing held at the Department of Examinations this afternoon (02).
Meanwhile, the highest score in Tamil medium, which stands at 188 marks, has been obtained by a student from the Jaffna District.
The Commissioner General said that a total of 1,018 students with special needs sat for the examination this year, while 18 children using the Braille medium also sat for the examination.
She further stated that the cut-off mark for this year's examination is 139, with 56,000 students scoring above the cut-off mark.
A total of 294,132 applicants registered for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination held on August 9th, out of which 289,867 candidates sat for the exam.
The Commissioner General Liyanage further stated that the date for applying for re-scrutiny of the examination results will be announced in due course.
