The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested a key associate of a major drug trafficker in the Sedawatta area of Wellampitiya today (02), while in possession of around 8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and 4 kilograms of heroin.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth over Rs. 200 million, police said.
The suspect was arrested during a special raid conducted in the Sedawatta area based on intelligence information.
Initial investigations have revealed that the suspect had been working as a dealer for a major drug trafficker identified as 'Sedawatte Kasun', police said.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the CCD under the direct supervision and direction of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Colombo District.
