The Colombo High Court has ordered that the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, over allegations of unlawfully acquiring assets worth more than Rs. 75 million beyond his legitimate income, be taken up for further hearing on September 22, 2026.
The case was taken up today (03) before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail, said Ada Derana reporter.
After considering the submissions made before the court, the judge ordered that the case be called again for further hearing on September 22, 2026.
The Colombo High Court judge also ordered that summons be issued requiring the witnesses to appear before the court on that date.
The case was filed by CIABOC during the previous Good Governance Government, alleging that Wimal Weerawansa had committed an offence under the Bribery Act by unlawfully acquiring assets worth more than Rs. 75 million in excess of his legitimate income between 2010 and 2014, while serving as a Cabinet Minister.
