
Former Minister Johnston Fernando, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Johnston Fernando was arrested by CIABOC today (04) in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The former Minister had earlier arrived at the Bribery Commission to provide a statement, Ada Derana reported.
He was arrested over allegations that he caused a loss of approximately Rs. 7.9 million to the government.
According to the allegations, Fernando removed a company that had been legitimately selected to supply chairs for the Polgolla Mahinda Rajapaksa Auditorium and subsequently awarded the contract to a company allegedly associated with him.
