Boralesgamuwa Police have uncovered further details regarding an incident in which a man was shot dead inside a residence on Malani Bulathsinghala Mawatha, Boralesgamuwa, last night (04).
Police investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out by an individual identified as “Dehiwala Sando,” who is believed to be a member of an underworld gang. The suspect had reportedly targeted the cashier of an associate known as “Kos Malli.”
However, the shooters missed their intended target, and the bullets struck the cashier’s father instead. The deceased has been identified as 74-year-old Sunil Fernando, an elderly man who had been suffering from paralysis.
Two unidentified assailants, who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, opened fire with a pistol before fleeing the area.
Boralesgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations and special operations to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the shooting.
