Two individuals have been arrested by the Thalathuoya Police in connection with the suspected murder of a 29-year-old man in Bawulana, Kandy.
The duo had been arrested after police received a complaint on September 7 that a resident of Bawulana, Thalathuoya, had been missing since September 4.
During subsequent investigations, police discovered the charred body of the missing man in a forested area in Bawulana. Investigations have revealed that he had been murdered.
The deceased has been identified as a 29-year-old resident of Thalathuoya.
Two suspects, aged 18 and 41 and also residents of the area, were arrested in connection with the crime.
According to information revealed during questioning, the victim was allegedly assaulted with a wooden pole and killed following a personal dispute, after which his body was set on fire.
Thalathuoya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
