The deadline granted to the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the lack of preparedness to face Cyclone Ditwah has been extended until December 19.
The extension was approved following a proposal presented by Leader of the House and Minister Bimal Rathnayake.
The extension has been granted as the committee requires additional time to report to Parliament on its findings and recommendations, as stipulated in the resolution adopted by Parliament on January 21, 2026.
Accordingly, under Standing Order 102 of Parliament, the committee has been granted an extension to submit its final report.
