Police have arrested two suspects, including a woman, in separate drug raids carried out in Wellampitiya and Puttalam.

 

A 51-year-old woman was arrested in the Kolonnawa area of the Wellampitiya Police Division on September 16 with 8 grams and 600 milligrams of heroin.

 

Following questioning, police recovered a further 1 kilogram and 42 milligrams of heroin from her residence. The suspect is a resident of the Mulleriyawa area, police said.

 

Meanwhile, Puttalam Police arrested a 26-year-old man in Maduragama area, yesterday (17).

 

He was allegedly transporting 314 grams and 200 milligrams of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) on a motorcycle. Police also seized the motorcycle and a mobile phone in his possession.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by the Wellampitiya and Puttalam Police.
