National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been further remanded until September 29, 2026.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court ordered that MP Namal Rajapaksa, who was remanded over allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 100 million in connection with the procurement of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines, be further remanded until September 29.
The Magistrate’s order also stated that a ruling on his bail application will be announced on that date, said Ada Derana reporter.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering submissions made by Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara, who appeared on behalf of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, and President’s Counsel Shavindra Fernando, who appeared on behalf of the suspect.
