The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide early warnings for six districts due to the prevailing heavy rainfall across the country.

 

The warnings were issued at 07:00 a.m. today (20) and will remain in effect for a 24-hour period until 07:00 a.m. tomorrow (21).

 

Accordingly, Level 1 — “Remain Vigilant” (Yellow Warning) landslide warnings have been issued for the following Divisional Secretariat Divisions:

 

  • In the Galle District, the warning applies to the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Division.

     

  • In the Kalutara District, the warning applies to the Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat Division.

     

  • In the Kandy District, the warning applies to the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division.

     

  • In the Kegalle District, the warning applies to the Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat Division.

     

  • In the Ratnapura District, the warning applies to Pelmadulla, Ratnapura, Kuruwita and Nivithigala Divisional Secretariat Divisions.

 

Meanwhile, Level 2 — “Alert” (Amber) landslide warnings have been issued for the Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division in the Nuwara Eliya District.
