Several houses inundated following heavy rainfall in Nawalapitiya
Several houses located in low-lying areas in the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division in Nawalapitiya have been inundated due to rising water levels of the Mahaweli River following heavy rainfall since earlier this morning (20).
Nearly 100 families have reportedly been displaced after several houses in the affected areas were inundated.
Low-lying areas and houses in Nawalapitiya’s Kithulkote, Labuwelkotuwa and Jayasundara Ovita areas have been particularly affected by the flooding.
