Abdul Razak Mohamed Basik, the father of alleged large-scale drug trafficker Shiran Basik, has been further remanded until October 08, 2026.
The order was issued when the case against him was taken up before the Colombo Hulftsdorp (Aluthkade) Magistrate’s Court today (25).
During the proceedings, a tuition master know as Sampath Aththatage was also named as a suspect in the case in connection with allegedly bringing money belonging to Shiran Basik into Sri Lanka and money laundering.
Accordingly, the court ordered that the suspect, who is currently overseas, be arrested upon his arrival in Sri Lanka.
Abdul Razak Mohamed Basik was arrested on September 11 in connection with an investigation into the purchase of a luxury apartment in the Gampaha area registered under his name, allegedly using Rs. 30 million earned through Shiran Basik’s drug trafficking activities.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB).
