Update- It has been revealed that over 81 kilograms of narcotics have been seized from the vessel intercepted in the Kusumanthurai Beach area in Madagal, Jaffna.
The vessel intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy with a stock of suspected narcotics in the Kusumanthurai Beach area in Madagal, Jaffna, has been found to be carrying 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) and heroin, the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) has revealed.
Further investigations into the incident are currently under way, the Navy said.
Earlier, a vessel carrying a stock of suspected narcotic drugs was taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy in the Kusumanthurai Beach area in the North.
A suspect was also arrested in connection with the incident, while the vessel suspected to have been used for drug trafficking was taken into Navy custody.
The operation was carried out by naval fleet units and SLNS ‘Agbo’ personnel in the Northern Naval Command, the Navy said.
