Update – It is reported that one of the two women who sustained critical injuries in the shooting incident has also succumbed to her injuries.    

Accordingly, a total of three individuals, including two women were shot and injured, while one male and one female have succumbed and the other female remains in critical condition.

The deceased woman is reportedly a resident of Ambalangoda.

The other woman who sustained injuries has been admitted to the Galle National Hospital for further treatment and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a hospital spokesperson said.

It is reported that the three victims were returning after appearing before the Galle Crime Division in Baddegama to record their signatures.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out using a T-56 rifle after the gunmen had blocked the three-wheeler on the road.

One person has reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Halpathota area of Baddegama, while two women remain critically injured.

It is reported that a male and two females were critically injured in the shooting and that the former had succumbed to injuries after admission to hospital.
 

A shooting incident was reported while three individuals including two women were travelling in a three wheeler and an unidentified gunman who arrived in a car had carried out the shooting before fleeing the scene, in the Halpathota area of Baddegama this morning (27).

Two police teams have commenced investigations into the incident.
