A total of 15 Divisional Secretariats in the Northern Province have been recognised for their outstanding performance in handling applications under the President’s Fund following the decentralisation of its services to the Divisional Secretariat level.

The “Mehewara Pasasum” programme was held yesterday (26) at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat under the patronage of Speaker of House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, the President’s Media Division (PMD).

The programme was introduced with the aim of ensuring faster and more efficient delivery of President’s Fund services to the general public.

Three Divisional Secretariats from each of the five districts in the Northern Province—Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya—were recognised based on their efficiency in receiving applications and responding to them promptly, the PMD noted.

In the Jaffna District, Nallur Divisional Secretariat secured first place, followed by Chavakachcheri and Valikamam East.

In the Kilinochchi District, Kilinochchi Divisional Secretariat was placed first, followed by Poonakary and Pachchilaipalli.

Nanaddan Divisional Secretariat secured first place in Mannar District, while Mannar Town and Manthai West secured second and third places respectively.

In the Mullaitivu District, Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat secured first place, followed by Oddusuddan and Manthai East.

In the Vavuniya District, Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat secured first place, with Vavuniya North and Vengalacheddikulam securing second and third places respectively.

Speaker of House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Members of Parliament Sellaththamby Thilaganathan and M. Jegadeeswaran, public representatives, President’s Senior Additional Secretary and Secretary to the President’s Fund Roshan Gamage, District Secretaries and other government officials attended the event, the PMD added.
