The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, is scheduled to deliver Sri Lanka’s National Statement at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York today (28).
The morning session is scheduled to commence at 9.00 a.m. New York time. Minister Vijitha Herath is listed as the 8th speaker of the morning session and his statement is tentatively expected between 10.15 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. New York time (7.45 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Sri Lanka time), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath stated that he arrived in New York yesterday (27) to participate in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He also stated that he is “looking forward to engaging with the UN Secretary-General, Foreign Ministers and senior UN officials.”
On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, senior UN officials, and Foreign Ministers of several countries, the Ministry added.
