Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has been named as the fourth suspect in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged Krrish transaction.
The case relates to allegations surrounding the controversial Krrish deal, with MP Namal Rajapaksa now listed as the fourth accused in the proceedings.
Meanwhile, on September 24, former Executive Director of Krrish Group and businesswoman Janaki Siriwardena, who was arrested by CIABOC over an alleged Rs. 70 million bribery incident involving MP Namal Rajapaksa, was remanded until October 6.
Siriwardena was arrested on September 24 by officers of the Special Investigation Unit of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
According to the allegations, Siriwardena had provided Rs. 70 million to MP Namal Rajapaksa on three separate occasions in exchange for his assistance in securing a property in Colombo Fort belonging to the Urban Development Authority (UDA) for Krrish Transworks Colombo (Pvt) Ltd., as well as expediting the necessary approvals.
The allegations have been made in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Krrish transaction.
