A businessman who was abducted in the Walana area of Panadura has been found abandoned near the Minuwanpitiya cemetery, police said.
According to police, the businessman was abducted at around 10:00 p.m. yesterday (29) while he was travelling home in his car with his wife and two daughters in the Mahanama Road area of Walana, Panadura.
A group travelling in another vehicle allegedly followed the businessman, attacked his vehicle and smashed its windows before forcibly abducting him.
The businessman’s two daughters were unharmed in the incident. His wife sustained injuries and was admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital, where the businessman is also currently receiving treatment, police said.
Police suspect that the abduction may have been linked to a financial dispute.
The businessman’s vehicle was damaged in the incident.
Officers from the Panadura Division Crime Scene Investigation Unit have commenced investigations into the incident.
