Police have recovered a pistol that had been concealed inside a grave at a cemetery in Ganemulla, based on information revealed during the questioning of a suspect known as ‘Konda Ranjii’.
The firearm was recovered by the Western Province-North Crime Division during a search conducted last night (03), after the suspect was taken to the relevant location while in police custody.
Investigations have revealed that the firearm belonged to the suspect, police said.
‘Konda Ranjii’, a suspected major drug trafficker and organized criminal, was recently arrested in Dubai while subject to a ‘Red Notice’ and subsequently extradited to Sri Lanka.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Western Province-North Crime Division.
