
Train services between Rambukkana and Peradeniya, which were temporarily suspended after earth and rocks fell onto the railway track, are expected to resume today (5), according to the Department of Railways.
A train travelling from Peradeniya to Colombo Fort was derailed early this morning after a landslide and rocks fell onto the train between Kadigamuwa and Ihala Kotte railway stations.
Following the incident, train services between Rambukkana and Peradeniya were temporarily suspended.
The Department of Railways said restoration work on the affected railway track is now nearing completion.
Accordingly, the 4.35 p.m. train from Colombo Fort to Gampola and the 5.15 p.m. train from Colombo Fort to Peradeniya are scheduled to operate as usual today, the department said.
