Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court, seeking an order preventing her arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation into the financial affairs of the Siriliya Saviya organisation.
The application was filed through her lawyers today (05).
The application has been filed amid an investigation by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), which has sought a statement from Shiranthi Rajapaksa regarding financial transactions linked to the organisation.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa is currently in Singapore for medical treatment and had previously requested additional time to appear before the FCID.
The investigation relates to financial transactions involving Siriliya Saviya, an organisation that operated under Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s leadership.
The anticipatory bail application seeks to prevent her arrest in connection with the investigation should she return to Sri Lanka.
Further proceedings on the application are expected to take place before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.
