The Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court has allowed the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to detain and question former Colombo Municipal Councillor Mahinda Kahandagama until October 12.

Kahandagama and another individual were arrested yesterday (05) by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau over allegations of drug trafficking, police said.

Kahandagama was arrested near a restaurant in Mirihana, according to police.

Police also said a quantity of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’), was seized from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations have allegedly revealed that he had been involved in drug trafficking for some time, while the second suspect is also alleged to have been linked to his activities.

Further investigations are being conducted by the CCIB.
