
A private bus that collided with a Metro bus in front of the 170 bus stop in Athurugiriya town has been issued a temporary suspension order.
The incident occurred yesterday (08), when the private bus collided with the Metro bus. Following the incident, Athurugiriya Police had arranged a motor vehicle examiner to inspect the private bus.
The examiner had recommended a temporary suspension of the bus’s operations after determining that it had not been properly maintained.
The private bus, which operates on the Athurugiriya–Pettah route, collided with the Metro bus travelling on the Millennium City–Pettah route when the driver attempted to reverse across the main road to enter the Athurugiriya bus stand.
Police stated that, based on the investigation, CCTV footage capturing the incident would also be submitted to the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today (09).
Meanwhile, police stated that both bus drivers were subjected to drug tests, the results of which confirmed that neither had used drugs.
