An individual arrested with ‘'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) has been identified as a wanted suspect linked to several crimes, including multiple murders, following lengthy interrogations, police said.
    
Investigations have revealed that the suspect is a former Air Force deserter and a contract killer who allegedly served as the main gunman for an organized underworld figure known as ‘Dehiwala Sando’, who is believed to be hiding overseas.

The suspect was arrested by a team of officers from the Kottawa Police Station during a sudden roadblock inspection, with 10,500 milligrams of ‘Ice’ narcotics in his possession.

Further investigations conducted while the suspect was being detained under a detention order obtained from the Homagama Magistrate’s Court revealed that he had been evading arrest under court warrants in connection with two murders previously committed in the Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia areas.

Police have also uncovered that the suspect was allegedly the main gunman involved in a shooting murder that took place on Malani Bulathsinhala Mawatha in Boralesgamuwa on September 4.

During questioning by the Homagama Divisional Crime Investigation Unit, police also had recovered a live hand grenade based on information provided by the suspect.

Police said the arrest had thwarted plans to carry out several murders in the Mount Lavinia area in the coming days, allegedly under instructions issued from underworld figures residing overseas.

Further investigations into the suspect are underway.
