Wellampitiya OIC’s wife released on bail

The wife of the former Wellampitiya Police OIC, who was arrested on drug charges along with her husband, has been ordered released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.

She was ordered released on two personal bails of Rs 1 million each, however has also been ordered to appear before the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) on the last Sunday of the every month, Ada Derana reporter said.

The Wellampitiya Police OIC was arrested on December 31 by the Colombo Crimes Division for the possession of heroin.

Around 40 grams of the illicit substance was reportedly recovered from the OIC’s residence.

His wife was also arrested the following day in connection with the case and they were both remanded.
