Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera appointed new BOI Chairman

Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera was appointed the Chairman and Director General of the Board of Investment (BOI).

Dr. Jayaweera is a Sydney based chemical engineer and is the founder of HydroMet Corporation Ltd, a resource recovery firm.

He sold out of the firm, which was a listed company in May 2012.

Jayaweera has a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and a Master of Science in chemistry and chemical Engineering from the Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow.
