
Air Vice Marshal C.R. Gurusinghe has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) by the President, the Air Force Spokesman said.
Chrisanthus Ranil Gurusinghe was born on 15th March 1962 and had his education at De Mazenod College, Kandana.
He joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an officer cadet on the 12th of February 1981 in the 9th intake of officer cadets and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the General Duties Pilot branch on 8th April 1983.
He has been decorated with Weera Wickrama Vibhushanaya(WWV), Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) in addition to many campaign and operational service medals.
Air Vice Marshal Gurusinghe has held the appointment of Commanding Officer No 6 Helicopter Squadron, and No 4 Helicopter Squadron. During his time as the Commanding Officer of No 6 Helicopter Squadron, he also held the appointment of Air Defence Commander North.
He has served as the Base Commander, Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya, Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana and Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake. He was also the Overall Operations Commander Bandaranaike International Airport security and The Command Flight Safety Officer of the SLAF.
At Air Force Headquarters he has served as Staff Officer Operations I, and was appointed the Director Civil Engineering in May 2012.
