Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan to replace Shah Rukh Khan for City of Dreams opening

Indian film superstar Hrithik Roshan is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka next month to attend the grand inauguration of the City of Dreams Sri Lanka project, which will officially open on August 2.

 

An announcement on the official Facebook page of City of Dreams Sri Lanka confirmed the actor’s presence at the event, stating:

 

“We’re thrilled to welcome Hrithik Roshan to City of Dreams on August 2nd for an incredibly special occasion! We can’t wait for him to experience South Asia’s first integrated Resort. Let’s go, let go!”

 

In a video message, Hrithik Roshan also shared his excitement about the visit:

 

“I’ll be visiting the beautiful island nation of Sri Lanka on the 2nd of August for something truly special — the grand opening of City of Dreams. Cannot wait to experience Colombo, a stunning seaside capital — vibrant, soulful, and still waiting to be discovered. Let’s go, let go as City of Dreams Sri Lanka! See you all very soon.”

 

Hrithik Roshan, is an acclaimed Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. Renowned for his versatile performances and exceptional dancing skills, Roshan is among the highest-paid actors in India. He has received numerous accolades, including six Filmfare Awards—four of which were for Best Actor. Since 2012, he has consistently featured in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list, reflecting his widespread popularity and income.

 

City of Dreams Sri Lanka is a landmark initiative by John Keells Holdings (JKH). It is recognized as South Asia’s first fully integrated resort and represents the largest private sector investment in Sri Lanka’s luxury hospitality sector, with an investment exceeding USD 1.2 billion.

 

This development redefines Colombo’s status on the global tourism map. It marks a significant partnership and a new chapter in the region’s hospitality and entertainment industry.

 

The integrated resort features the ultra-luxurious Nüwa Hotel complex and a world-class shopping mall. The project sets a new benchmark in South Asia’s tourism and luxury hotel landscape.

 

Strategically located in the heart of Colombo, the resort combines world-class hospitality, premium retail experiences, immersive entertainment, and cutting-edge MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure, all within a single dynamic destination.

 

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was initially scheduled to arrive in Colombo on August 2 as a special guest for the opening ceremony of “City of Dreams Sri Lanka.”

 

However, the organisers later issued a statement confirming that he will no longer be visiting the country as planned.

 

According to the statement, the actor’s visit has been cancelled due to unavoidable personal reasons.
