The Colombo High Court has ordered that the case filed by the Attorney General against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and his grandmother, Daisy Forrest, over the alleged unlawful acquisition of assets worth approximately Rs. 73 million, be recalled on September 22, Ada Derana reporter said.
The case was taken up today (28) before Colombo High Court Judge Sahan Mapa Bandara.
President’s Counsel Sampath Mendis, appearing on behalf of Yoshitha Rajapaksa, informed court that a forensic audit report had been submitted as evidence in this case. He requested court permission to access and examine 26 compact discs (CDs) containing emails, eight pen drives, one hard drive, one laptop, and a CPU, which were used in the preparation of the audit report.
The state counsel noted that the prosecution had no objection to the request.
Accordingly, the case was scheduled to be recalled on September 22.
The case was filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by the Attorney General against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Daisy Forrest, alleging they unlawfully acquired assets and property worth approximately Rs. 73 million.
