Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that a complete restructuring of the game of cricket is needed in Sri Lanka following the 258 run defeat against South Africa in the first One Day International played yesterday.
The Minister added that the bad taste should be driven away from the players and that the media should take up these issues with the relevant authorities as we are a cricket loving nation.
Commenting on the match last evening, he explained that the sport was that of glorious uncertainties but added that something had to be done about the state of the team.
The Minister also went on to commend the South African bowling performance branding it one of the best bowling attacks he had ever seen.
Answering a question directed by a journalist at the Cabinet press briefing held today (January 12) in Colombo, he said that the new Sri Lanka Cricket Board was appointed in accordance with the laws of the country and cannot be challenged as it is a lawful appointment.
