
Speaking at the current UNHRC session the European Union said it fully supports the resolution presented by US and added that the US had found cross-regional cooperation for the resolution.
The EU claims EU wants Sri Lanka to expeditiously implement the recommendations of the LLRC and address the legal obligation to address allegations of Human Rights abuse.
The EU expressed that concerns mentioned in the report compiled by the Expert Panel appointed by the UN Chief Ban Ki Moon were not fully addressed in the locally appointed LLRC.
The EU also strongly condemned the intimidation of individuals and civil society activists living in Sri Lanka and outside who work with the UN mechanism adding that Sri Lanka should allow their safe return to Sri Lanka.
Speaking after the EU the Chez Republic voiced support to the EU and their stand regarding the resolution.
