Court allows Fonseka to be warded for treatment

The High Court has ordered prison authorities to allow leader of the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Sarath Fonseka to receive treatment for his lungs at the Nawaloka hospital in Colombo.

 

The decision was taken when the court case regarding Fonseka employing army deserters was taken up in court today (April 25).

 

Speaking in defence of Fonseka, his Attorney pointed out that Fonseka was suffering from an illness of the lungs that required him to receive treatment and that his illness was diagnosed by specialist Dr. Vajira Tennakoon.

 

The doctor had confirmed that Fonseka needed to be warded at the hospital and receive extensive treatment.


The case will be brought before the court again on May 4.
