The Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs has taken no action for the development of Buddhist sacred sites, charged Mahanayaka of the Rangiri Dambulu chapter Inamaluwe Sumangala thero.
He accused that following the recent controversial incidents in Dambulla, two discussions were held regarding the development of the sacred zone, however the ministry had not even prepared a report on them.
Speaking to media at the Rangiri Dambulu Viharaya premises, Inamaluwe thero stated that Buddhist devotees abroad and locals alike call and inquire from him regarding the development progress of the sacred zone and that with great regret he has to inform them of the truth.
The Secretary to the Buddha Sasana Ministry was informed by the Chairman of the Urban Development Authority on May 31 to handover the Dambulla Development Project as sson as possible. However so far no action has been taken in this regard, he stated.
