National Museum authorities have confirmed that the artifacts taken into custody at Piliyandala last night were those robbed from the Colombo National Museum.
Two female suspects and a three-wheeler driver were arrested in the Piliyandala area in connection to the Colombo National Museum robbery.
A part of a sword and several rings, suspected to have been stolen from the museum, were found in their possession and subsequently taken into police custody.
The three suspects were remanded until September 03 after being produced before the Acting Kesbewa Magistrate today.
Meanwhile an individual believed to be the chief suspect in the museum heist has been arrested by Kotahena Police and is currently in remand custody.
However the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) is conducting futher investigations into the incident.
