S’gamuwa students hospitalized after hunger strike

Two students who were staging a hunger strike at the Sabaragamuwa University were admitted to the Pabahinna Hospital this morning.
They have been transferred to the Balangoda Hospital for further treatment, hospital sources said.
Four students had launched a hunger strike on Tuesday (May 28), based on several demands including solutions to various problems faced by the students of the university.
One of the demands was to revoke the exam suspension imposed on several student activists by the university administration.
The students had refused to drink water from May 30, a student representative said, adding that the hunger strike has turned into a fast unto death.
