The warning issued to fishing communities not to venture out to sea still remains in shallow and deep waters from Mannar to Colombo and Galle across to Pottuvil as well as in Jaffna and Trincomalee, the Meteorological Department stated.
The Department of Meteorology requested naval and fishing communities to remain ‘vigilant’ as deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle will be rough with strong southwesterly wind up to 70kmp/h.
The situation is likely to prevail until this evening (June 11).
In a weather forecast issued yesterday, it was revealed that another rain spell in the South-Western parts and windy condition over Sri Lanka and neighboring sea areas are expected.
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces and in the Puttalam and Kurunegala districts, the Met Department said.
