Galigamuwa PS member on trial for fraud released on bail

UPFA member of the Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, Nishantha Herath, who was arrested for fraud was released on bail today (August 5).

 

The PS member is accused of taking a total of Rs.700,000 with the promise of providing jobs while six charges have been filed against him.

 

Herath was arrested on July 15 while bail was granted at Rs. 120,000 at Rs.20,000 per charge.

 

Two further charges were filed against the PS member while he was in remand.

 

He was released today on Rs.20,000 bail.
