Pakistani national arrested in connection with record drug haul

A Pakistani national was arrested by Interpol in connection with smuggling the largest haul of heroin ever seized by the Sri Lankan Customs Department.

 

The haul of heroin was seized from Orugodawatta by Customs officials back in August, and was confirmed as containing 262 kilograms of the illicit substance.

 

The suspect was arrested in Kashmir, Pakistan, the Police Media Unit reported while he is to be brought to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Customs said it is the largest drug haul busted in the entire region of South Asia.
