The National System Operator (NSO) says the power transmission system has been fully restored, while the electricity supply across the island is expected to return to normal soon.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the electricity supply has already been restored to most areas affected by this morning’s islandwide outage.
Earlier, the NSO said electricity supply had been restored to around 50% of the areas affected by the islandwide power outage since this morning (17).
The NSO had also stated that power restoration was progressing area by area from noon and that it expected to fully restore the national grid by around 6.30 p.m. this evening.
According to the NSO, the islandwide outage occurred due to system instability in the transmission network, resulting in a total failure of the country's power grid. The interruption was reported at around 11.45 a.m.
The NSO had said its continuing restoration work and has requested owners of rooftop solar PV systems to disconnect their systems until further instructions to support the restoration process.
