The Court of Appeal today (22) dismissed several petitions filed by a group of Buddhist monks seeking permission to intervene in a writ petition submitted by former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) retired Major General Suresh Sallay.
The writ petition filed by Suresh Sallay challenges his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
The intervention petitions were submitted by several Buddhist monks, including Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, seeking permission to make submissions before the court in connection with Sallay’s case.
However, the Court of Appeal ordered the dismissal of the intervention petitions today.
