Tamil-medium schools in four provinces granted special holiday on Monday for ‘Deepavali’

In view of the Deepavali festival, which falls tomorrow (08), a special school holiday has been declared for next Monday (09) for all Tamil-medium schools in the Central, Uva, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

The decision was made following a special request by Deputy Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Sundaralingam Pradeep.

The Governors of the respective provinces have issued instructions to the Provincial Directors of Education regarding the matter.

However, the relevant authorities have also informed that academic activities at these Tamil-medium schools will be conducted as usual on Saturday (14) to compensate for the special holiday granted on Monday.
