
The 2014 Budget of the UPFA-controlled Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha has been defeated for the second time by a majority of two votes.
The Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha, A.D. Kumarasiri presented the budget to the council today and only 10 members voted in favour while 12 members cast their vote against it.
Nine members of the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) including the Vice Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha voted against the budget.
The UPFA recently announced that it will remove the local council members who voted against their respective budgets from the party.
