
The government has decided to present the Budget proposal for the year 2015 in Parliament on October 24, according to sources within the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
It is said that the Budget is being presented to Parliament early this year due to the government’s decision to hold the Presidential Election in January 2015.
However, the Appropriation Bill for the service of the financial year 2015 was presented in Parliament by the Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne on September 26.
The expected government expenditure for the year 2015 is over Rs 3053 billion, around 17 per cent higher compared to the previous year’s expenditure.
