A motion of no-confidence against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake signed by 37 MPs aligned with the ‘Joint Opposition’ has been handed over to the Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya.
The motion has been filed accusing Karunanayake of proving false information to the Parliament including the proposals included in the 2016 Budget.
A similar no-confidence motion signed by 44 MPs against the Finance Minister was handed over to the Speaker on November 27.
Meanwhile the Joint Opposition says it will also file a motion of no-confidence against Minister of Tourism Development, Christian Religious Affairs and Lands John Amaratunga.
Speaking in Parliament, UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage claimed that in response to a question raised by him in the house yesterday the minister had provided incorrect information and by that he had mislead the parliament.
