The case filed against former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake for allegedly preparing a fraudulent document has been postponed to 17 July by the Colombo High Court, Ada Derana Court reporter said.
The case was fixed for July after the State Counsels sought a new date since the first two witnesses in the case, the President and the Prime Minister, were not present at the Court.
The Counsels appearing on behalf of the witnesses have apprised the Court that the President and the PM have informed that they could not appear before the Court today due to their pre-scheduled plans, the reporter added.
The former Health Minister, who was arrested and remanded for allegedly preparing the fraudulent document, was granted bail on December 05, 2016.
He is accused of forging the signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena in a letter. Attanayake, who defected from the then opposition and was made Health Minister for less than three weeks, is accused of fabricating the document to discredit the witnesses.
