Special traffic operation to be implemented in Colombo

A special traffic operation will be implemented in Colombo tomorrow (04).

 

Police Headquarters stated that the operation would be conducted by Colombo City Traffic Police Officers and the Ceylon Motor Trading Company.

 

Under this new operation, cases will be filed against drivers violating traffic lane rules and road rules. Police officers in civilian clothes will be patrolling the streets of Colombo for this purpose.

 

The patrolling officers have been instructed to notify the Colombo City Traffic Police headquarters of any vehicles observed to be violating road rules or traffic lane rules, where cases would be filed against the drivers concerned.

 

The officers will be equipped with walkie-talkies for communication with the Colombo City Traffic Police headquarters.

 

Police Headquarters stated that tickets would also be issued for certain traffic violations.

 

The operation will first be implemented within Colombo and will later be introduced to other areas of the island.
