The Commission stated that out of the 29 complaints received regarding attempts of bribery, 20 complaints had been followed through with successful raid operations.

The Commission also stated that the majority of the complaints had been in connection with the Police Department and the education sector.

Among the 22 arrestees are 5 Police Officers, 4 officials attached to Divisional Secretariat Offices, 4 more attached to Provincial Councils and Municipal Councils, 2 officials from the Department of Education, 2 from the health sector, and 1 official each from the Department of Labour and the Road Passenger Transport Authority.

Several arrestees had been released on bail after being produced before the Court, whilst the remainder had been placed in remand custody.

The Commission said that complaints regarding incidents or attempts of bribery can be lodged promptly by contacting the Commission’s emergency hotline at 1954.

Failing that, complaints can also be made in person at the Commission premises, or via mail.
