The Colombo High Court today issued an order to temporarily lift the travel ban currently imposed on Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader MP Udaya Gammanpila.

Considering a motion submitted by the defendant, MP Udaya Gammanpila, Colombo High Court Judge A.A.R. Heiyanthuduwa has issued this order.

The attorney representing the defendant sought an order from the High Court to temporarily lift the overseas travel ban currently imposed on his client until 10th October and again from 14th to 20th of October, as the MP is required to travel to the United Kingdom during the aforesaid time period.

It was reported that the state counsel had not objected to the request sought by the defense.

Accordingly, the Colombo HC Judge ordered lift the overseas travel ban imposed on MP Udaya Gammanpila and to release his passport on a bail bond of Rs 100,000.

The Colombo HC Judge further issued an order to inform the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration and the Air Traffic Controller of Bandaranaike International Airport regarding the court decision.
