Raththota Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Member of SLPP Tilak Kumarasiri has commenced a fast-unto-death, protesting the assault against him by another Pradeshiya Sabha Member from the same party.
Reportedly, he has been sitting in front of the Pradeshiya Sabha premises since yesterday (07).
PS Member Tilak Kumarasiri alleges that a group of mobs including PS Member of SLPP Dinesh Karathnaya and his father, former PS Chairman Jayantha Pushpakumara had assaulted him on October 5, following the Pradeshiya Sabha session.
According to him the reason for the assault had been the statements made by him on the irregularities that are taking place within the Pradeshiya Sabha.
Mr. Kumarasiri affirms that he would continue the fasting protest until he is informed in writing that the future developmental projects by the Pradeshiya Sabha will be carried out according to a proper procedure.
Raththota Police said that the former Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and one other individual have been arrested yesterday in connection with the assault.
